Over the Christmas week, the Louisiana State Police arrested 197 drunk drivers across the state. The arrests usually see a spike between the Christmas and New Years holiday. When pulling people over, LA State Trooper Evan Harrell, tries to convey to them that getting arrested for drunk driving is far better than the possible consequence of accident or even death. Many of these 197 arrests were results from accidents, both minor and major. In 2015 the DWI laws in Louisiana will be changing, resulting in harsher penalties for driving while intoxicated. The LA State Police urge everyone to have fun over their holiday, but make a plan with a designated driver.
